Arizona Police Association Endorses Doug Ducey
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
PHOENIX — The Arizona Police Association (APA), on behalf of its nearly 13,000 members, today announced its endorsement of Governor Ducey based on his expressed and demonstrated concern, care and compassionate support of Arizona law enforcement personnel.
“We are proud to once again endorse Doug Ducey for governor,” said Joe Clure, APA Executive Director. “Governor Ducey has proven that he understands and appreciates the challenges law enforcement officers face in protecting and serving our communities. His compassion was on full display with the recent signing of the Craig Tiger Act, which improves access to treatment for officers suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. No governor has done more to support our men and women in blue. With Governor Ducey in office, those who run toward danger can know they have an ally and friend supporting them and the important work they do to keep our communities safe.”
About the Arizona Police Association:
The Arizona Police Association (APA) is “an association of associations.” The APA is not “an employment organization, nor is it a “Fraternal Organization.” These points are important as they help to define what the purpose of the APA is and what it is not. To be more precise, the APA is what is commonly referred to as a “Trade” or “Professional” organization. Through the combined effort and strengths of our member organizations, the APA is able to provide, at a very low cost, one large, amplified, law enforcement “voice” within our community. The main function of this “voice” is to effectively communicate with and lobby the state legislature, our federal representatives, and when needed, local city and town councils, board of supervisors and individual employers.
About Doug Ducey:
Doug Ducey is committed to securing Arizona’s future. In his first year as governor, he took a $1 billion deficit and balanced the budget, without raising taxes. He is committed to improving K-12 education, and has added nearly $2.7 billion to Arizona public schools. He’s cut regulations to stimulate jobs and reformed and simplified our tax code every year he has been governor. In addition, Governor Ducey launched Arizona’s Border Strike Force, to enhance security along Arizona’s southern border and stop the flow of cartels and human traffickers.
